Inspirations From My Garden: Give Me My Space
At the ending of June 2024 I purchased a starter snake plant with two leaves. It arrived in a little two inch pot that I kept near sunlight on my bookshelf and watered regularly. Despite this routine, the plant never grew at all. Nearly a year later in May 2025, I finally decided to repot the snake plant, putting it into a four inch pot instead of a two inch one. Within a few days, I almost immediately began seeing a new leaf sprout from the plant (after almost twelve months of stagnancy). Four months later, at the ending of Sept 2025, the snake plant is now growing at least three full leaves. That is three full leaves more than it grew while trapped in a pot too small for its potential.
It makes you wonder, how much are we similar to this plant? Are we growing in the areas we desire growth? Financially? Emotionally? Relationally? Mentally? We can ask ourselves the question: How can we metaphorically “repot” so we can expand in environments that provide space we need to grow? Like this plant demonstrated, as long as we are limiting ourselves in spaces that keep us at the same level, stagnancy is inevitable. Only when we make the move that accommodates our capacity to advance will we see the growth we are truly capable of.
