More Money, No Problem
Category: Affirmations
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the Christian bible verse that states “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).” Conditioned to adapt to the “more money, more problems” trope, part of me has recently decided that a blessing is not a blessing if it comes with an attachment to problems.
What is a blessing? According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a blessing is “a thing conducive to happiness or welfare.” By nature, blessings are designed to contribute positively to one’s life.
Of course, the opposite of this is also true. According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a curse—the opposite of a blessing—is defined as “evil or misfortune that comes as if in response to imprecation or as retribution.” According to this definition, it’s almost as though the concept “more money, more problems” implies money that is attached to problems is a curse.
Let’s re-examine: “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” If we accept the belief that money and problems are synonymous, such fate manifests.
Challenge: How can you condition your mind to believe you deserve blessings that make you rich and that have no sorrow added to those riches? Let's start by entering a challenge over the next few days. Repeat the following affirmation to yourself several times daily: “The blessing of the Lord makes me rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”
