Our perceptions oftentimes derive from our proclivities or vibrational inclinations. The Christian Bible reminds us in Colossians 3:2, “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” It is usual to focus on our immediate circumstances and attach our emotions to thoughts keeping us in cycles. However, what would happen if we intentionally choose to elevate our perceptions and reactions to match what we desire instead of what we are stuck in?
Distractions come in all shapes, ways, and sizes. Yet, we have the ability to choose what we magnify; whether it be the problem or the solution. If the problem is all we are able to focus on, we have the ability to use the problem as a means to getting to the solution. However, there comes a time when one must make the concerted effort to rise above our problems in order to dwell in peace and enjoyment.
Believe in yourself, your future, your capacity, and your abilities. You are able to elevate from situations keeping you stuck or feeling unfortunate. When distractions come in, use your voice, power, strength, and energy to put them out. Then you will be able to, not only have a life you dream of, but also a life worth enjoying.
Verses 9–19 of Al-Alaq in the translation by Mustafa Khattab (The Clear Quran):
9. Have you seen the one who prevents
10. a servant ˹of Ours˺ from praying?
11. Have you seen if he is ˹rightly˺ guided,
12. or encourages righteousness?
13. Have you seen if he denies ˹the truth˺ and turns away?
14. Does he not know that Allah sees ˹all˺?
15. But no! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag him by the forelock—
16. a lying, sinful forelock.
17. So let him call his associates.
18. We will call the wardens of Hell.
19. Again, no! Never obey him. Rather, prostrate yourself and draw near ˹to Allah˺.
